papamike writes "I am releasing version 3 of my theming utility this week. I have changed it, added more features and now it controls 100% of the theme. There are seven configuration files to work with and all someone has to do is open the file go down it line by line entering the values to create their theme.
You can create graphic heavy themes, light themes, fixed width themes and full screen themes just by setting one value.
Blocks can be controlled fully. You can set both blocks on left or right side, have only one block show, or have the standard layout of blocks one on each side, all by changing 2 settings.
DESCRIPTION: Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome, where some have an unknown impact and others can be exploited by malicious people to manipulate certain data and potentially compromise a user's system.

Programming IQ test: Round 2
Southern writes "Acing last year's quiz was nothing. Only true hacker heroes will survive Round 2
Back for more, eh? Our last programming quiz had seasoned pros pulling their hair out with its tangle of trick questions, obscure trivia, and the occasional bad pun. But if you think you have what it takes, we've assembled another batch of 20 questions covering the history, techniques, and jargon of software development. If you can answer them all, you're well on your way to the heights of hackerdom. Just don't let your guard down, because we might try to trick ya!

12 commands every Linux newbie should learn
Southern writes "It's a testament to how far Linux has come that users today don't typically have to use the command line if they don't want to. Such is the quality of the graphical user interfaces in many modern Linux distributions that there's simply no need, in general.
Yet the command line can be a highly efficient way of getting things done in the Linux world--it's often a much simpler, easier and more direct method than clicking through all the menu choices, in fact.
I believe fear of the command line is one of the top mistakes newcomers to Linux sometimes make. For that reason, let's look at some of the main commands any Linux user should know.

Internet Explorer 8 CSS Parser Exploit
papamike writes "Use-after-free vulnerability in the CSharedStyleSheet::Notify function in the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) parser in mshtml.dll, as used in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 8 and possibly other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and execute arbitrary code via multiple @import calls in a crafted document.
What is CSharedStyleSheet? When building lengthy websites designers will create several stylesheets each covering a different area of the site. They are then joined together using @import statements. Example @import url("nav.css"); I use this method all the time and it's a method most CMS's use."

RN Themes
papamike writes "The best part of the internet, at times, is when you can get free hosting from a friend. I designed and built a new website and just opened the downloads area where you can grab a Raven Nuke theme. I have 9 themes in there now and will be adding more as I review them for graphics issues among other things. I have ideas for new themes and will be adding them under the "New Themes" category.
You know it's amazing how things change when you get a new monitor. All of a sudden my graphics or nearly all of them sucked and I have spent a lot of time reworking them.

Malware
papamike writes "I'm sure that everyone here has some degree of knowledge about malware. It is software which is designed to trick the victim into downloading it thinking that it will help their system. But, it is actually a method that hackers use to do things like install trojans, root-kits, viruses, worms, and on-and-on to your computer. A piece of software that the victim thinks is useful at fixing problems on their system. Software such as, defragmentation tools, registry editors, system scanners, virus detection and the list goes on. The fact is that alot of malicious software only annoys you but don't be fooled by this. Because by making you think that your system is full of problems it only fools people into downloading another piece of software that cost $$. The biggest problem is that the website you would go to looks like or is a credible website. "
